The Seattle Composers Alliance

We are a non-profit professional organization made up of working composers, students, and others interested in professional music composition. The SCA was created so that composers could gather with their peers in a relaxed, non-competitive atmosphere and share knowledge, experience and information. But we also have an agenda: special forums and seminars of interest to our members; expanding Seattle’s reputation as a center for musical creativity; and educational outreach to our community.

About Brent:
Washington State native Brent Hages received his formal training at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and Temple University, studying with James B. Caldwell, Alfred Genovese, and Louis Rosenblatt. Freelancing and private teaching have taken him to Cleveland, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, Tennessee, New York, New Jersey, and, currently, Seattle.
Mr. Hages performs with the Seattle Symphony, Pacific Northwest Ballet, the former Bellevue Philharmonic and Bellevue Philharmonic Woodwind Quintet, Yakima Symphony, Wenatchee Symphony, Bellevue Chamber Chorus, and Shoreline Community College theatre productions. Other highlights in recent years include performing with legendary singer Mimi Hines, Idina Menzel, Il Divo, Mannheim Steamroller, and Three Irish Tenors. Mr. Hages has recorded extensively for movie soundtracks.
From 1997 to 2001, he was the principal oboist and administration director of the Las Vegas Music Festival under the musical directorship of another Washington state native and former oboist, Evan Christ. Aside from performing and teaching, he spends his time engaging with his Whippet dogs, collecting vintage recordings, and collecting and restoring the instruments of his former teachers that were used throughout their careers.
