The SCA held its 3rd Annual Holiday Bash on Saturday, January 19th in the Chinese Room
at the top of the Smith Tower in downtown Seattle. The event, which included dinner,
a silent auction and a swing dance with instructors, was attended by nearly half the
current membership with significant others.
Notable auction items included a wine-tasting party for thirty people at E.B. Foote Winery,
a wide variety of computer games to choose from, a sleeve of Bad Animals golf balls and
bottles of wine produced by our very own president, Steve Allen.
"I never danced with so many men," said board member Celia Chavez
of the swing dance lesson, a highlight of the evening. Dance instructor
Joe Howton paired off couples and then partners would rotate after
each instruction to help party-goers to learn the steps and to reduce
the potential for marital strife. Ms. Chavez also blessed those
attending with her rendition of Satin Doll to show everyone
what she and Korby Sears had donated as an auction item: a night
of piano/vocal jazz.
The Chinese Room at Seattle's historic Smith Tower was a wonderful venue for the event.
The room features hand-carved ornaments and access to an observation deck, although
few party-goers ventured out into the cold, January
wind-storm.
