Meet & Greet:
SCA Jazz Performance
February 22, 2004 at Tula's Restaurant and Nightclub
In June of 2003, The Seattle Composers Alliance sponsored a Jazzy Meet
and Greet at Tula's, one of Seattle's premiere jazz clubs. Due to it's
overwhelming success, the event will now be repeated as a yearly affair.
The SCA Jazzy Meet and Greet will be remounted in February of 2004. As an
SCA member, you can contribute to the event in three ways:
- Contribute a chart for standard jazz orchestra to be performed.
- Play in the SCA jazz orchestra.
- Show up with friends and enjoy yourself.
The SCA is forming a standard jazz orchestra with the following instrumentation:
- Five saxes
- Lead alto doubling on flute
- Lead tenor doubling on clarinet and flute
- Possibly bari doubling on bass clarinet
- Four trumpets, each doubling on flugelhorn
- Four trombones (4 part will be bass trombone)
- Bass
- Guitar
- Piano
- Drums
If you have charts composed for this instrumentation, this is an opportunity
to have them performed.
If you regularly perform on one of these instruments, this is an opportunity
to see what some of your
fellow SCA members are composing.
Each chart will need to be composed with completed parts for the above instrumentation and in
Geoff Ogle's hands by Saturday, February 14. The band will have one rehearsal prior to the performance
to ensure we don't step in any potholes at the gig.
If you are interested in joining the orchestra or contributing charts,
